Repentance of a Templar

In the midst of all these atrocities, the examinations continued before the ecclesiastical tribunals. Many aged and illustrious warriors, who merited a better fate, appeared before their judges pale and trembling.
At first they revoked their confessions, declared their innocence, and were remanded to prison; and then, panic-stricken, they demanded to be led back before the papal commissioners, when they abandoned their retractions, persisted in their previous avowals of guilt, humbly expressed their sorrow and repentance, and were then pardoned, absolved, and reconciled to the church.

Repentance is the activity of reviewing one’s actions and feeling contrition or regret for past wrongs.
It generally involves a commitment to personal change and resolving to live a more responsible and humane life.
The practice of repentance plays an important role in the sociological doctrines of the world’s major religions where it is considered necessary for the attainment of salvation. In religious contexts it often involves an act of confession to a spiritual elder (such as a monk or priest).
This typically includes an admission of guilt, a promise or resolve not to repeat the offence; an attempt to make restitution for the wrong, or in some way to reverse the harmful effects of the wrong where possible. Within a secular context repentance may form part of the process of psychological healing that takes place during a course of psychotherapy.

How This Piece Was Created

This one required the portrayal of emotion as well as the imagery to create a powerful and meaningful piece the feeling of true repentance and the visuals of the horrors needed to be portrayed within the same piece to create the full effect of what I was trying to achieve.
The camera was set up and I prepared myself for the role , I slipped on the chainmail coif and gripped the sword I picked up a handful of dirt and rubbed it into my face (they would not have been squeaky clean in these days) I then sprayed fake spray blood into my face and onto my hands to represent the evils and the battles our knight had endured, I then set about placing myself into the soul of the Templar and feeling the pain and sorrow of his repentance to attain the visuals of the emotion I wished to portray.
