Behind The Lens

Location

Sweet Briar Lake in North Dakota

Time

This was taken in the evening as the sun was going down it was actually like a big red ball in the sky and that is what I was trying to capture but it still turned out gorgeous even though it wasn't exactly what I was aiming for.

Lighting

I knew after seeing the sun being as red as it was that it was going to make the sky pop in red as well and the only way I could think of to make it pop like it was doing in person was to have my landscape setting on vibrant, it was exactly what I was seeing with my eyes.

Equipment

I was using my Canon Rebel T3I , canon 55-250 mm lens, hand held with no flash, on landscape setting and vibrant.

Inspiration

Was after a great sunset photo and I love this lake, I knew since the weather was so nice it would produce a lovely sunset and so it did.

Editing

no post processing on this photo

In my camera bag

Lens cleaner , few different lenses and a few filters just incase I need them and a tripod even though I don't normally use it.

Feedback

Scout around different locations. I found that shooting during the weekday the recreational areas are not as busy so its easier to find areas to shoot from. Always watch the weather so you have an idea what you'll be shooting in. And bring the right equipment for what you plan on shooting, I most always have a longer zoom lens with me cause I also photograph wildlife. Plan ahead so you can prepare.
