The Squires at my local park are very friendly. Early mornings they are most curious.

Behind The Lens

Location

Took this photo at my favorite Rhode Island Park.

Time

I went to the park to take shots of the ducks and geese as they visit the park in the early morning before the crowds arrive. The squires were out in numbers this day and constantly jumping into my shots, believe they thought my camera might have been a source of their morning snack. Odd because there is a sign up we are not to feed the geese, guess that means more for them!

Lighting

The morning light at this park is spectacular and this angle, with the pond in the back ground, produced a softer backdrop.

Equipment

Camera in hand, had to wait a bit as I didn't have a big lens. Once he figured out I didn't have food getting close was tricky.

Inspiration

The animals at this park are amazing I wanted to capture the good nature of the squires. They are very friendly and sometimes over looked in this geese friendly park.

Editing

I did crop the picture a bit to help bring his expression closer to the viewer.

In my camera bag

New to photography so only had manual in my bag.

Feedback

I would have preferred to have set up a tripod and waited for a more active shot. The longer you can sit and allow the park residents to feel comfortable with you the more interesting the shot. I prefer the early mornings or dusk but mostly mornings as the animals tend to be in the parks before the people arrive. Also the morning haze is a nice affect to work with.
