Eurasian Nuthatch (Sitta europaea), Taken on 20 January 2012, AT 10:51:01am. This particular broken stem of the giant grass Arundo donax provided a convenient lookout perch for any birds tempted by the bird feeder hanging very near, so I focused on it and waited. This time I was rewarded by this beautiful and agile bird. Jerky, abrupt movements - very alert and wary, frequently twisting its head and body around, checking for any signs of danger.
