Location
This is a slough of the St. Croix River. It is in the St. Croix Islands State Wildlife Center about five miles, as the crow flies, northwest of Somerset, Wisconsin.Time
Mid dayLighting
It is natural light. I usually don't worry about waiting for early morning or evening for the best light. I love the blue sky and clouds during the day.Equipment
Olympus OMD E-M5 with the Olympus 60mm (35mm equivalent is 120mm) f2.8 macroInspiration
I have been working on a project to photograph the St. Croix River from its source in northwestern Wisconsin to where it joins the Mississippi River in Prescott, Wisconsin. I've tried to search out all of the out-of-the-way spots that give access to the river which in its northern extent is largely a wilderness river. Most of the river is a National Wild and Scenic River.Editing
Basic processing in Lightroom. Nothing unusual. In my camera bag
The camera and lens mentioned above plus a 12-40mm (35mm equivalent is 24mm - 80mm) f2.8zoom lens and a 75-300 mm (35mm equivalent is 150 - 600mm) f4.8 telephoto zoom.Feedback
I find many potential spots for landscapes using my "Delorme Atlas and Gazetteer" and "Google Maps". Be willing to explore and get off the beaten track.
