Thank you so much Shannon, I appreciate it. I saw a similar one somewhere and it always stuck in the back of my mind. I was finally given all the right circumstances to give it a shot.

This photo was taken in Mid Michigan. My husband and I were just out for a drive to start checking out the early fall colors.Time
This is one of my favorite images that I have ever taken. It was funny that I had a pair of scissors in the car to be able to cut a heart shape in the leaf and shoot the early afternoon sun glare through the middle of the heart. It was just shortly after 1:30 pm and there wasn't a cloud in the sky to be found. It was the perfect day to be out looking at the early change of season in Michigan.Lighting
This was an experiment. I was not even sure what I was going to get when I put my camera lens into the sun.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon EOS REBEL T3i. It is my very first DSLR camera and I only had the 18mm kit lens. The settings are f/14.0 1/640s ISO: 100Inspiration
I like to try new things. I really liked shooting the sun glistening through the trees on a beautiful day. So this time I wanted to see what it would look like through a leave. I had nothing to lose by trying something new. I also like the way the leave hadn't finished turning yet and you can still see green mixed in the color.Editing
I was shooting in JPEG, so the only post processing that had to be done was a crop. Since I was holding the leaf with my left hand and shooting with my right hand, I wanted to crop my fingers out of the photo. In my camera bag
Since this was taken, I have traded in the Canon for a Nikon D5300. When my husband and I go out for a ride and we grab out cameras, I usually just have a Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC (OS) MACRO HSM Zoom Lens. Other than when I am doing portraits, that lens usually stays on my camera. It has become my go to lens.Feedback
It's so hard to give advice on how to capture this kind of a shot....I guess the only thing I can say is Don't let a beautiful sun shiny day get away from you with out getting out and taking some pictures. Play with the starbursts. Experiment with it. You never know what you are going to have in the end.
