This picture wasn't planned. Becca took her glasses down to look at an outfit on someone else. Her eyes jumped out at me and I told her to freeze. This image came into my head and turned out just like I wanted. That is her real eye color.

Behind The Lens

Location

Buffalo Chip Campground, Sturgis, SD 2013

Time

Becca was a model with the International Bikini Team and was preparing for a competition on the main stage. It was around 6 p.m. in the evening.

Lighting

Natural light...

Equipment

Canon 5D Mark III, 24-70, f 2.8.

Inspiration

Another model asked Becca what she thought of her outfit. Becca lowered her glasses to get an unimpeded look. When she did, I saw the contrast in her eyes along with the glasses and this image just popped into my head. I told her to not move and took it.

Editing

The whole thing took about 10 mins and that includes getting it loaded onto the computer. I just selected the glasses and eyes then turned the rest to B&W.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 5D Mark III, 24-70 f 2.8, 700-200 f 2.8, 2x canon 600 EX flashes, 2 radio triggers

Feedback

Trying to find beauty doesn't have to be hard. Look for simple contrasts and use photoshop minimally. Find ways to do the magic with the camera - not with a computer.
