Behind The Lens

Location

I took this outside at the local park system.

Time

It was the lovely golden hour in September a few years back. But, it was cloudy and almost sunset.

Lighting

As I mentioned, it was golden hour and a bit cloudy, but we were next to a lake, so there was quite a bit of a blue light reflection that created more of a blue cast to the shot.

Equipment

This was a simple Nikon D90 with a 1.8 50mm lens. No flash.

Inspiration

This was inspired by someone who was holding an invitation that I saw. We didn't have any paper with us, so we just wrote on his hand! I wanted to get them smiling, but I intertwined their fingers to intertwine them.

Editing

I didn't use much more than light room to crop and adjust the brightness. I made have fixed a few cracks on his hands. I'm not big on post-processing other than minor corrections.

In my camera bag

The camera and a short lens. Sometimes a flash if I need it. But I go light!

Feedback

Use a short lens and make sure your hands are aligned so you can still get the gist of their faces.
