Chassiron

The lighthouse in Chassiron, Ile d'Oleron, France. The lighthouse was build in 1836 en can be visited and even climbed by taking 224 steps inside the lighthouse.

I knew that I wanted to capture the fresnel lens of the lighthouse and while I would be standing close it (just above me) I had the wide angle lens already attached to my camera when arriving upstairs. It started to rain however and while the first drops where falling I knew I had to be quick to not have too many rain drops hit the lens. I bracketed the photo because there would be a high dynamic range needed to get the clouds as well as the black painted astragal bars.
