Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Loxahatchee national park in florida. It's a very small inlet that basically a few Cars and some boats can fit. However, it's one of the few viewable areas of the glades around for miles making it a local favorite for viewing the sunset.

Time

Just minutes before the sun went down completely, I remember walking back to my car and snapping this really Quick

Lighting

I wanted the grass to be mostly sihloutted with just a bit of highlighting. The real show stopper was the setting sun behind the grass. So finding the balance was essential.

Equipment

Shot with a nikon d3300 with a 18-55mm lens and macro attachment. No flash

Inspiration

This was an on the fly picture. I didn't plan to take it but as I was walking along and looked behind me, it was the perfect moment as the sun highlighted the clouds rising above.

Editing

I used adobe lightroom 5 to add some contact and clarity but no other major edits

In my camera bag

My favorite walk around lens for landscapes is my Tamron 18-200. It has the perfect flexibility for capturing various amounts of distances. Allowing for close ups of animals and broad landscapes. Espically with a macro or telephoto attachment. Which I find work very well. I keep a d5100 and d3300 in my case along with various ND filters and lens attachments. I use various other sigma and Tamron lens as well. LoL extra batteries and a car charger must
