Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken whilst on a New Year's Day walk on Whitby beach. It was freezing cold but the sun was out and it was a hazy morning.

Time

Lunchtime, just as the sun was at its highest.

Lighting

There were stunning silhouettes all along the strip, as it was quite foggy it gives the image a hazy feel.

Equipment

This was shot on an iPhone whilst walking, it has been post-edited.

Inspiration

I just loved the colours on a murky day!

Editing

Yes, I enhanced the foreground contrast whilst applying some darker shadow tones.

In my camera bag

I am an amateur photographer and prefer to use my phone as and when I see something inspiring then lug around my big camera. Some things you can't afford time to set up, you have to be quick.

Feedback

Up north the weather changes quickly, try experimenting with cloudy days and beach shots that aren't all summery and crowded.
