Location
It is hard not find a great sight when you are walking in Rome, I have seen many friends and great photographers whom I learn from have shot near this location Near Castle San Angelo, I wanted to try my own especially as the weather was not great during the blue hours I shot two shots from the same location 10 minutes apart each and blended them later onTime
Time of day was around 10 to 11 in the morning with big changes in the look of the sky and clouds due to appearance and disappearance of the sun so I kept camera on tripod fixed at the composition for ten minutes and took three very different shots and merged them together. The time of the year was last November.Lighting
The lighting was nature's greatest gift and challenge at the same time having it changed significantly for more than three times in less than 10 minutes and away from the blue hours created more of an opportunity of light goldness to the photo.Equipment
Shot on my 6d and Sigma 24-105 ART OS HSM on the manfrotto 055xprob and the 498cr2 headInspiration
All about Rome is inspirational you feel like walking in a postcard of magic scenery all around, I wanted to take a different photo of this place from a different side of the bridge and catch the reflection in the water.Editing
Post processing was basic adjustment of exposure, shadows, highlights and vibrance in Lightroom for the three exposures in a ten minute interval then blending was done to reveal the interesting parts in the sky, water from all three. In my camera bag
Normally I have the 6d sigma 24-105 on all the time, at the time I had in the weather proof vanguard bag, the 17-40 f4 L and the 70-200 F4 L IS, and my Manfrotto tripod, most of the shots are with the Sigma And the wide angle in that trip to Rome.Feedback
Rome is a place of many beauties, make good research on where to go and your possible vantage points for shooting each place, be up early and prepare to walk a lot and change positions for getting the perfect shot. Even make use of terrible weather by either shooting from the shade or behind a window when its raining and by just walking without your camera select prospect vantage points and compositions . Two more things is watching the changes in the light and prepare to blend images for getting a more dramatic look, and lastly search the internet and viewing specifically for other images of the city you are visiting for more inspiration.
