Me and my wife went to Cuba last year for our honeymoon and during the day we went to Havana for a tour of the city then i saw this guy playing his trumpet in front of this Old Museum.Time
This was around 12 noon and the sun was really bright that day, luckily this guy was sitting under the shade so i was able to take a picture of him without the harsh light.Lighting
It was a very bright and harsh day and i was just lucky to see this guy under the shade and that gave him a very flattering and subtle lighting. I positioned my self on his right side because the light is coming from that direction and that way i don't have to upped my ISO.Equipment
Nikon D610 and Nikon 24-70mm F2.8Inspiration
I love Jazz music, when i saw this guy playing his trumpet, i wasn't really thinking of taking a picture of him. I just want to enjoy listening to his version of "Feel So Good" by Chuck Mangione. But since i have my camera with me, why not take a picture of him as well? I've took a few shots but this shot is my favorite, it really shows how he deeply love playing his instrument while making a living at the same time.Editing
I didn't do much post-processing on this one, everything was done in lightroom. I adjusted the skin tone a bit and increased the clarity of the background. In my camera bag

Capture the moment and look for what is real. That's what portrait is all about for me. Learn the basics and all the rules but break them creatively.
