Location
There are a number of location in Philadelphia that go all out for Christmas. This was taken on 1600 block of 13th Street in South Philly.Time
I was driving around the city taking pictures of the Christmas light. It was a very cold night. It was December 7th at 8pm. The closer you get the Christmas the more people are in the streets.Lighting
The Christmas are so bright that they light the whole block. So there is no need for any other lighting.Equipment
This was shot with the Pentax K5 and Sigma 10-20. I use an Induro AT413 tripod & Manfrotto ball head.Inspiration
I love being in the city for the holidays. Diving around seeing all the lights and people just make you feel alive.Editing
I used Lightroom for my post-processing. There was no heavy editing need for this shoot. Just blacks, whites, highlights & contrast ect.In my camera bag
My main bag usually has my Pentax K5 and K3ii. I carry 3 lens with me. My Sigma 10-20, 24-70 & 70-200. I use my 10-20 75% of the time. I also have my ND filters with me. I don't leave home without them. (B+W 10 stop, Hoya 6 stop and Tiffen 3 stop) My backup back has my 50mm, 18-55 WR & 17-70 lenses in it. Plus 2 flashes.Feedback
I always use my histogram when shooting bright lights. You don't want to blow out you highlights. I also bracket these shots. The way I can do HDR or blend them in Photoshop if needed.
