About 4:30 p.m.Lighting
The Time of day and location of this area of the lake creates a beautiful natural setting with perfect light.Equipment
Nikon D7000 with Sigma 150- 500 mm lens. I shot this handheld.Inspiration
I know the herons like to fish at this side of the lake so I waited to see if any would show up. I was not disappointed. I love great blue herons!Editing
The only post processing would be cropping and slight adjustments in lightroomIn my camera bag
Today I carry a Nikon D7200. Nikon D3300 with sigma 18-250 mm lens. Sigma 150-600mn lensFeedback
Have patience. Learn the habits of wildlife. Stay alert. I shoot wildlife on shutter priority at a minimum of 1/1000 sec. You can adjust exposure compensation according to the light. Shooting at shutter priority ensures you're ready for movement and can better capture in birds in flight shots. Most important. Have fun and enjoy the moment!
