I took this photograph in my home. It was of my first Tokay Gecko and I had just misted the terrarium.Time
This was in the evening.Lighting
I used the pre existing light from the gecko's enclosure. Then added a pop of flash to give the water droplets some life of their own.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon Rebel T3i with a Canon EF USM 2.8 100mm macro lens. Shot at f/3.5Inspiration
Gecko eyes are usually large and intriguing. I have a fascination with animals even ones that I keep in my home.Editing

My Canon rebel T3i, canon EF USM 2.8 Macro, Canon EF 1.4 50 mm, and a basic 18-55 kit lens. I have polarization filters, uv filters, etc... used on as needed basis and batteries... always carry extra batteries and SD cards.Feedback
The slower you are to approach an animal the less likely you are to frighten them with your camera. Let the animal get ised to you being around and they will hold still a little longer. You can take beautiful pictures of your pets, they shine on their own, but a little lighting and adding an element like the water dropplets can really make a picture dynamic. Sometimes, grandeur doesn't do the trick, its the small details that can really make a photo pop.
