Location
I walked into the breakfast nook one lazy, hazy spring morning to find Noley sitting there sipping her coffee. Who could pass up such a perfect shot?Time
Early morning, getting ready for a location shoot in the Smokey Mountains.Lighting
The lighting was perfect as the morning sun hadn't burned off the ground fog yet. That peaceful moment between the sleeping & waking world. I find that time to be magical, don't you?Equipment
Sony a99, full frame. Natural light.Inspiration
As I said; it was that magical window of time between sleeping & waking. She had such a serene pose & the lighting was casting soft lowlights. I swear sometimes my brain sees the world in composition mode.Editing
Not much post processing. I simply took the raw image, changed to B&W, cropped a little... Image was almost perfect already, love when that happens. In my camera bag
Monopod, ring light, batteries, 2 extra lenses, cleaning kit, a couple of reflectors, gum... any other items dictated by the days shoot concept.Feedback
Don't look for a particular pose, concept, activity... look at the entire scene. That's what I mean when I say my brain is in composition mode most of the time. I rarely focus on any one thing when shooting, I see the whole image through a sort of mood filter. I think images should tell a story. That happens by expressing a mood, a feeling, etc... If you always tell a story that can be interpreted by the viewers, the image will be amazing. I believe that photography is a universal language that doesn't have geographic borders. It doesn't matter who sees the image, or how their interpretation; as long as it speaks to something inside of them.
