Behind The Lens

Location

My husband used to caretake for a beautiful property on the eastern shore of Maryland. This was taken there, Wilderness Farm.

Time

Mid morning probably around 8-9 am. I was just getting home from a morning of coaching at my gym. When I saw what was going on with the sun and fog I rushed in the house for my camera.

Lighting

There had been a pretty heavy fog that morning and as the sun was getting above it, it cast the most beautiful light, diffused through the mist and gorgeous rays.

Equipment

This was shot with my Nikon d 7100 a 70-200mm lens.

Inspiration

When I saw what was going on with the sun and fog I rushed in the house for my camera. I have quite a few of my most favorite landscapes that were born out of this morning.

Editing

I love lightroom and editing I find the second best best part of the process, of course the capture is the best part! It allows me to put exactly what I see into the image. Editing, to me, is what makes your image art. I don't think I have one "style" so its hard to tell you the exact post process. What I try to find is the beautiful.

In my camera bag

I've come a long way in my art since this photo was taken. I now have a Nikon D750, a 50mm, 28-75mm, that and 70-200m, an OCF is in my bag too. I am now more of a portrait and wedding photographer than a landscape photographer.

Feedback

Early morning mists create magical landscapes. Always look to the time as the fog is lifting and sun is shining bright. Rays filtering through trees creates a magical scene as well.
