Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from Center Island in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Time

The time of day 11:13pm according to the EXIF data, I thought it was sooner, but I did spend about 45 minutes just staring at the city, and being in awe of the how it looked. The date was August 31st, 2012 one of the first days after we got our equipment at Humber College, when I was there.

Lighting

I mean I think the photo speaks for itself on this, I did a 30 second exposure on a tripod with a UV filter on it. The lighting was the just what I got from the city, it was a beautiful sight though.

Equipment

Camera: Nikon D7000 Lens: Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-f/5.6 Filter: UV Tripod: Manfrotto

Inspiration

I honestly thought it would be a cool shot to get, and while not a unique one, it was one that I thought would be great to capture for while I was at school, I could use it on projects which I did, sell it which I've sold two prints and one was in Toronto at Gary Crawfords office, and one was in his Scarborough office as well when I sold them to him in March of 2013. Overall, it was just the beauty of it, and I had seen some cityscapes of other cities prior, I'm wanting to actually go and do multiple of these around Canada, and eventually around the world.

Editing

There was some, balancing colours was done, just to take out the overall magenta hue it had in it from the Rogers Center (Sky Dome), and there was some minor balancing of the contrast to ensure that it brang out the overall photo better.

In my camera bag

Current Equipment is as follows: Canon T6 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 75-300mm f/4-5.6 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 (Old SLR lens from the Elan) and my Tripod.

Feedback

Use a tripod, and remember to turn off image stabilization, or else you'll come out like the other photos I have of this one where it's oversharpened due to the gyro trying to keep it stable without needing to.
