A neighbor of mine happened to catch an adult female Phidippus Audax in his house, and was a little concerned regarding it. Not exactly familiar with Jumping spiders, I sought the help of -r-whatsthisbug and obviously got an immediate answer. One commenter noted that she looked like she was ready to brood, and, lo and behold, when I got an opportunity to check on her, she'd already started her web tunnel.
As I'm no spider expert, I was concerned with disturbing her while she was brooding, so I ensured there was adequate ventilation, sealed off the top of the container with pantyhose, and let her be. After some time passed, this is what I was presented with!
I hope you guys appreciate these little buggers as much as my 2 year old and I did. He had the honor of releasing them, and was bummed to see them go.
