Behind The Lens
Location
I'm originally from Canada and recently moved to Southport, UK where this photo was taken. I love discovering my new world and capturing the English life on camera. This was taken on a rare sunny day around town to capture the beauty of this seaside community.Time
We had been walking around town for most of the afternoon. At this point, the sun was almost setting but still high enough for us to capture this lovely, relaxing moment.Lighting
I have a huge obsession with taking pictures of the sun at different angles on building, trees, vehicles, people, anything really! I loved the silhouette that was created.Equipment
It's a fairly simple SLR camera, Canon d3100, with no extra equipment other than my creativity.Inspiration
My friend and I love taking photos and doing our own photo shoots of each other and our friends. We both have a huge passion for photography and showing life through a different lens. We decided to spend a day together shooting shots around town from the beach, to brick walls, to fields. There's this lovely old bridge overlooking some train tracks that made for some incredible photos. I wanted to play with some shadow effects and the sun was just at the right angle over the bridge, thus this picture was born!Editing
There was a little bit of editing to get the sky more vibrant, the sun giving an even brighter effect and completely darken the silhouette. In my camera bag
I'm an amateur and do photography more as a hobby so I don't have too many things kept in my bag. In fact, many times my camera is one of the objects I carry in my every day bag just in case I want to capture a moment in my every day life. Typically if I do carry my camera bag around, I carry the very basics like the charger and some extra SD cards just in case I run out of room.Feedback
Do what you love and take time to do it. Some people say the sun can ruin photos but I say, embrace every element that you're given and make it work for you. Turn it into something you want to share with the world.
