I only took one basic class for photography. I feel I have the "knack" for it and thoroughly enjoy what I can capture. The shot was taken at Cook's Mill in Greenville, Wva.Time
I was with a friend on our way to Union, WVA as she was taking me there to see some beautiful scenery. This shot was taken on our way to Union before we stopped for lunch. It was about 12:30pm.Lighting
I did NOT need any extra lighting since it was a perfect sunny day. I love the way the sun beams down on this place. To me, the shadows were perfect.Equipment
I used a Nikon 5100. The lens was 18-55, no flash, tripod. Hand held.Inspiration
I wanted an old fashion timing shot. This inspired me to take this shot. When I look at this, I really feel like I am still there taking the beautiful scenery in.Editing
I don't use Photoshop because I am intimidated by it. I use Picasa 3 when I need/want to. I only added a little more saturation to boost the Fall colors. In my camera bag
I carry my Nikon camera, 18-55 lens, 55-200 lens, 55-300lens, and 40mm micro lens. A flash-Nikon Speedlight, SB-700. It's also nice to carry a wool hat and gloves. Paper and pen. You never know if you need to jot things down!Feedback
Living in Southwestern Virginia and close to parts of West Virginia, definetly has its benefits when it comes to photography. Not only can you get city life but there is so much country to cover. I would suggest having someone drive while you snap the photos. Go to any local museum to learn the history of the land. Look around your surroundings and if you "love it" then take that photo to share! Experiment with the lay of the land, mountains, farms, old buildings and mills.
