Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my living room. She was interested in the treats I had in my hand.

Time

I took this in late afternoon, as the sun was coming in my windows very strong

Lighting

I used the natural sunlight coming in through the windows.

Equipment

This was taken with my Nikon Coolpix P600 (non DSLR), fixed lens, no flash or tripod.

Inspiration

I had been wanting to capture the look on my pit bull's face when she really wants a delicious treat. I succeeded in doing just that.

Editing

I edited out the distracting background clutter of the living room and replaced it with a solid black one. I then smoothed the rough edges around the dog using the smudge tool.

In my camera bag

I now also use a Nikon D3100, ever since a locally renowned Photographer taught me how to use it. I carry both cameras (that one and my Nikon Coolpix P600), a 70-300mm lens, a tripod, several filters, spare batteries, memory cards, lens cleaning cloths, all in a sturdy case. Never go anywhere without spare batteries and memory cards!

Feedback

Late afternoon is a great time to take advantage of direct sunlight for eye pleasing photos.
