Location
This photo was taken outside my high school with a self-timer. One of the teachers saw me running back and forth through the window and came out to ask if I was okay.Time
This was taken about mid-morning (10-10:30) because that was when I had a free period at school.Lighting
The day was very overcast, which was perfect because I had very soft light to work with and none of the snow was blown out.Equipment
I took this with my Nikon D3000 and a 50mm f/1.8 lens. I borrowed a tripod from my photography teacher because I hadn't thought to bring one to school that day.Inspiration
I was feeling restless and decided to wander around outside a little bit. When I happened upon this tree I noticed that the fog and the overcast sky made the world look almost endless, so I stopped to take a self-portrait.Editing
Though the sky was almost perfect on its own, I had to clone out some other trees and a fence from the background to get the look I was going for.In my camera bag
I don't have much equipment, so I tend to carry it all with me. I regularly use my Vanguard tripod, Nikon D3000, 50mm f/1.8, and 35mm f/1.8.Feedback
This shot was possible mostly because I was in the right place at the right time, however it is almost always to make a scene look minimalistic. Remove as many distractions as you can before taking the photo, then try a few different compositions to see what works best. Try to get as much right in camera as possible so it takes less time to process!
