Location
We took this at a local farm where Lauren worked at the time. She had a love for this particular horse and had asked if we could go there to do her session and use the horse.Time
My favorite time of day to do sessions is in the evening. This particular session was taken in the fall and would take a little more time to get the horse prepared and cooperative so we started a little earlier than normal, but still evening.Lighting
There was great all around natural light that evening! No reflectors were used. Just natural light.Equipment
Nikon d7000 - camera, Lens - Tamron 70-200Inspiration
I had known Lauren for quite some time as she went to school with my older sons. When she approached me to take her senior photos I didn't hesitate to say yes. When she followed up with "Can we take some with one of the horses where I work?", I just about jumped for joy! Once we were in the session I could see she had a real relationship with this horse. This particular horse was one that had a mind of it's own, but with Lauren you could see he was different. You can see their relationship in this photo. It captured their closeness and calm they feel for each other.Editing
Post processing was converting from raw to jpeg, and pretty much straight out of camera. In my camera bag
This photo was taken a few years ago now. Typically my bag has my Nikon d810, my Tamron 70-200 lens (my favorite), Nikon 50mm lens, back up camera battery, and expo disc.Feedback
Live in the moment of what is going on in your session. The unposed, real moments. Always seems to capture the best look in the eyes and the relationship comes through.
