Location
This was taken in the alpine greenhouse at RHS Rosemoor, North Devon.Time
Probably around lunchtime.Lighting
It is the soft lighting that makes this photo for me, together with a shallow depth of field so the focus is on one flower. A clean background helps too.Equipment
Canon 5D with a 100mm Macro lens, hand held. No flash.Inspiration
A good day out in a wonderful garden, where the gardeners are experts. The greenhouse is out of the wind and sheltered, I needed to hold my breath and focus very closely on a tiny flower.Editing
Auto contrast in photoshop usually does it for me, together with any necessary spotting out.In my camera bag
Am now onto a Canon 5D Mk ll, still with the 100mm Macro lens. Sometimes I use a ringflash, and a tripod at home.Feedback
This was a lucky result, you can plan and try different things, but sometimes something just works. I have tried lewisia time and time again for the orange and pink, but I cannot repeat this one.
