Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo while it was on my workbench in my garden. It was early evening where the sun was being hidden by the house and under a tree that was letting a bit of light in from the mercury vapor light above the tree and off to the side. The cactus flowers were so outstanding I ran in to get my camera, like the saying goes"The rest is history".Time
Early evening after the sun had sheltered behind the house.Lighting
All natural lighting provided by fading sun and one mercury vapor light filtering through the overhead tree branchesEquipment
My camera at the time was a Nikon D3100, the lens was a standard 18 -55 mmInspiration
The beauty of the flowers was all that needed for me to take the photo.Editing

Right now I have two Nikon d3100, one equipped with a 55-2000 mm lens and one with a nifty 50, I also have a Nikon D7200 with an 18-55 mm lens. I carry one mono pod and if I am going on a shoot usually two tripods, one hot shoe flat and one off camera slave flash. I do carry plant of batteries for each camera and more than enough cards.Feedback
The only thing I can say or rather repeat what has already been said by many photographers is; know where your equipment is so you can capture what you want, by this I mean to say you do not always have your camera with you although near by know where it is to grab at a moments notice, flexible to get the shot you want and if there is enough time taking the shot, be patient and take the right shot. I know that with flowers the golden hour is a temperamental time for some flowers while closing for the night.
