Location
The Tunnel View in Yosemite National ParkThe Tunnel View scenic overlook is a historic site, located adjacent to Wawona Road, affording expansive views of Yosemite Valley, El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls, and Half DomeTime
This particularly image was taken at about noon. I try to stay away from high sunlight because the colors are washed out and very harsh lighting.Lighting
I prefer to use natural lighting, try shooting during the golden hour when you can.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon 5DMKII with a Canon EF 28-70mm f/2.8L USM Lens, HandheldInspiration
When I was young my dad used to subscribe to National Geographic Magazine and I have always scanned the magazine for beautiful pictures of National Parks. This particular view I remembered very clear. So when my family and I decided to drive up from San Diego, we stayed 3 days in a hotel outside the park. We woke up early morning to drive around Yosemite. Going up towards this scenic view was not noticeable until I made a u turn after the tunnel. Coming through the Tunnel and seeing this view took me way back to those days that i saw pictures of Yosemite for the first time.Editing
Little post processing was done on Lightroom, saturated just a little. The view did not need any additional editing. This was taken mid day, colors were harsh but the drama of the colors were powerful. In my camera bag
I shoot with Canon camera and lenses. Have a sturdy tripod, carry filters and carry a wireless or wired shutter release.I now have a Sony mirrors camera that I truly enjoy, love the portability..Feedback
I shoot RAW! I shoot a lot of sequences and various settings if I do not know when I will be returning to the very same location. More to choose from than feeling like you did not capture enough..
