Location
This photo was taken on Kalakaua Avenue, the main drag through Waikiki. I was watching the Aloha Flower Parade, trying to take a shot down the street when I saw this couple start to cross in front of my scene.Time
The photo was taken about 10:30 in the morning; the parade was well underway by the time I got there.Lighting
Late morning light was used, no flash needed. The sky had clouds cruising in and out after a morning of light rain showers.Equipment
I used my Panasonic Lumix-FZ200, no tripod or flash. I like to travel light.Inspiration
I was at first irritated that this couple was going to cross right in front of the shot I wanted, then laughed at the juxtaposition of bride and groom and horses... and the look on the groom's face as if he hadn't noticed they were in the middle of the parade.Editing
I used PicMonkey to increase contrast and saturation. In my camera bag
I carry only my Panasonic Lumix at this time; the bridge camera aspect of this camera works for me. I'm quite petite, and don't like carrying around a bag full of heavy equipment, or having to quickly change lenses; had that been the case here, I would have missed this shot (I saw it coming, but I'm not experienced enough to do the lens change thing very fast).Feedback
I'm fairly new to photography, and my only advice is to just go out and shoot a lot of photos where you are. A lot of the photos will probably go in the delete bin, but you can also get very lucky in a situation like this parade where things are constantly in flux with the parade itself, and with the crowd watching. Be on the alert for a good shot.
