Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo in our backyard. Our place is at high elevation where you can oversee a great landscape like mountains, rice and corn field and we have a lot of plum trees and i thought that the plum trees will make a good silhouette against the setting sun so i made the shot.Time
The sun was setting then. It was probably around 5:00 to 6:00pmLighting
Lighting is the most important ingredient of photography in my opinion. Through lighting, you can create different drama to a subject. Particularly with this image, i deliberately under exposed it to make a pleasing silhouette.Equipment
I am newbie and i have no high end equipment. For this image, I used Nikon d60 with its kitlens, a shutter release and a tripod. I believe that equipment does not matter in making a good photograph. It lies upon the person's skills and creativity in taking a photograph.Inspiration
I have photographer friends who taught me the basics of photography and with the help of youtube i was able to embrace photography. Sunsets, sunrise and silhouettes images usually catches my attention and it makes a great impact on my being. The plum trees made an interesting abstract to the image, too. As whole it tells a story.Editing
With this image, i shot it in raw format and did bracketing exposure (three exposures 1 UE, 1OE and 1NE) merged the three exposures to make an HDR image. Post processed the using Photomatix Pro. I did some tweakings, hence the final output. In my camera bag
I have my nikon d60 with kitlens 18-55, a sturdy tripod, wireless shutter release, a sigma 24-70 2.8, sb 800, cpl and nd filters, tokina 12-24 f/4 and nikon d90.Feedback
Patience and perfect timing is your key.
