Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in the garden on the side of my house. It is a particularly damp and dark side of the house where nothing really grows so it was surprising to see mushrooms!

Time

It was my favorite time of day where a majority of my pictures will come out better than other times. I have to say maybe late 3:00 to 5:00. The sun seems to be in the perfect position giving everything a beautiful golden glow.

Lighting

Natural light can be beautiful and waiting for the perfect time of day when that happens in definitely worth the wait.

Equipment

Interestingly enough I didn't use a proper camera but instead used the camera on my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone!

Inspiration

At the time I was playing a game, Animal Crossing, and if you picked the mushrooms lying around and traded them in you could get furniture that was mushroomed theme. The mushrooms in the game looked so cool that when I found them on the side of the house I could not resist taking pictures of them! This particular bunch I thought looked so neat that I got on the ground to look up underneath. That's when I took the shot and also thought of Alice in Wonderland, the one with Johnny Depp, and all the giant mushrooms. I also got all the mushroom themed furniture in the game even the rare ones!

Editing

No, I did nothing the picture, I liked it as it was.

In my camera bag

Normally I have my untraditional camera, my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone, and a film camera filled with black and white film. I also stock extra film just in case.

Feedback

Don't be afraid to use your phone! Some of them are better quality than cameras themselves! Also don't be afraid to get on the ground or end up in a weird pose as you try to the perfect shot.
