This photo was taken in the balcony of my apartment. I keep my bunnies there and was taking some shots of one of them.Time
I took this shot in the late afternoon, around 3pm I remember. this was taken on September 27, 2014.Lighting
I shot this photo in the late afternoon to get some beautiful, warm yet not harsh kind of light. I wanted to photograph my bunny using the sunlight as backlight so that I can get some beautiful highlights over her furs. And the wall of my balcony was white so it worked as a perfect reflector.Equipment
I shot this with a Nikon D5000 and a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 G lens without any tripod or flash.Inspiration
I love taking pictures of bunnies! They are so photogenic and they have such great characters! Especially I love to take photos of this little bunny. She always strikes some funny poses so I was ready with my camera, hoping to get one fun pose et voila! She started to groom herself and I got this picture.Editing
I love post-processing as much as I love taking photos, I did post-process this in Photoshop CS6. I wanted to make it look warm and dreamy. I played with different adjustment layers like curves, selective colours, gradient fill, fill colour etc and blending modes. I increased the red and yellow tones using selective colours and colour balance adjustment layers. Then I enhanced the highlights a bit using the curves layer and finally I increased the sharpness by using an unsharp mask filter. In my camera bag
My gears are really very simple and nothing fancy. I only use my Nikon D5000 and my Nikkor 50mm F/1.8G lens hardly leaves my camera body. I also have a Nikkor 40mm macro lens but I rarely use that. I just love my 50mm! It's light and very versatile. And it creates some amazing bokeh. As a a huge bokeh lover it's just perfect for me. And also I use a Victory 3080 tripod.Feedback
If you want to capture your pets especially bunnies in some funny and nice poses then first thing to do is having the patience. Your bunny needs to be comfortable with you, let him/her being him/herself. Don't try to push or make them pose for you. Bunnies are prey animals and they get frightened very easily, and if they get frightened then they wont co-operate at all. So first thing is to be very patient and wait for the right moment. Capturing a bunny while grooming itself is actually easy. Bunnies are naturally very clean animals and they are obsessed with self grooming. They do it quite often but very quickly like only for some seconds. A trick to get this kind of position is to give them some food. 90% of the time after eating they will try to clean themselves. You have to be always ready and alert for capturing the desired moment. And you should use the continuous shutter mode in your camera so that you don't miss anything. Another important thing is getting a good angle and point of view.Try to shoot with a low point of view. That will make the viewer feel more personal and interested. Also, sharp eyes are very important as we tend to look at the eyes first. And try to avoid any flash, that can scare the bunny. Remember, if they do not want to follow you, do not make them by force. Just Be patient, keep alert and try to understand your rabbit, good photos will follow eventually.
