Behind The Lens
Location
This photograph was shot during my trip to Athens, in December 2012. I was on my way up to visit the acropolis when I saw this. Luckily I had my camera at hand and so just had to find the best angle for the shot. It was amazing how that guy completely ignored me. I was afraid that as soon as he notices me he will start looking towards me ruining my shot but luckily he was too absorbed in his cigarette to take care of what I was doing, and that is exactly what I was after.Time
This was taken just before midday.Lighting
What's interesting here is during this time of day the light is usually too harsh for a good photograph. However being December, the sun was not too high up in the sky even at this time of day. Also the trees, the narrow road with buildings on both sides and the acropolis mountain towering right ahead in front of me, all helped to shield the harsh light from the sun and give just the right atmosphere for the shot.Equipment
It was taken handheld using a Canon EOS 5Dmkii body, with the Canon EF70-200 f2.8 IS mkii lens. No flash was used. Exposure was 1/320 of a sec at f8 ISO 400.Inspiration
First of all the guy sitting at the table smoking his cigareet, the surrounding old buildings, especially the texture on their walls, and the light that was present.Editing
The photo in its RAW format was first imported in lightroom, where it was developed and then exported to photoshop. Most of the post processing was then done in photoshop, where my aim was mainly to enhance the textures in the image and give it the effect that I wanted.In my camera bag

Keep your eyes open and be prepared for the unexpected. You never know when you are going to come across a good shot, and most of the times it happens when you are least expecting it.
