This photo was taken in my vehicle as I was driving home on a VERY cold, windy day in Minnesota.Time
It was a little after lunch time and the sun was glistening off the snow that was blowing around. It seems like a snowy desert going down our block that day since it was -40 below with the windchill and schools had been cancelled.Lighting
I can't say anything fancy. All that I know is it was really sunny that day and I did not have any fancy filters. I improvised.Equipment
I used my regular camera with nothing fancy. I do not have any lenses on my camera and it was VERY sunny that day. So I improvised and used the upper shaded part of my windshield as my lens filter to cut down on the glare. It so happens that it has a blue tint to it which just added that much more interest to the photo. I do not have fancy equipment so I improvise often. It makes photography all that more fun and challenging to get the right shot. Some work, some don't but that is was it is all about.Inspiration
I loved how cold and desolate it seemed. It was the true idea of what a cold windy winter day in Minnesota is like. It just seemed fitting and the photo came together well.Editing
I did not.In my camera bag
I do not carry lots of gadgets and gizmos in my camera bag. There is my camera and my backup SD cards and battery. That is all. I now use the single leg tripod that I got for Christmas one year for better focus and stability. Otherwise, what you see if what you get. Challenge is the name of the game and it is what makes photography fun. Anyone can take pictures with the all the right equipment an lighting, but when you keep it simple you have to work a little harder to find the right lighting and features.Feedback
Use a filter of some kind when taking photos with lots of glare and bright lights. There are lots of items that make great filters. Use your imagination and try out different things. Tinted glass, tinted paper, sunglasses, sun visors on cars etc.
