Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at North Point State Park in Maryland. A protected wilderness area, this place has soo much to offer! I prefer the wetlands, but there are plenty of wooded areas and a marsh.Time
I have always preferred morning. It has the most serene and beautiful light. Most of my shots are taken before noon.Lighting
Shooting in the morning usually makes dramatic scenes without really harsh shadows. Sometimes you have to be patient and wait for the sun when it goes behind a cloud!Equipment
I use a Nikon D300. This photo was taken with my Tamron 18-270mm, F/3.5-6.3 lens.Inspiration
I was drawn to the colors of the caterpillar and the way the light was hitting it. The caterpillar was very determined to climb to the top of the plant that it was on!Editing
I use Adobe Photoshop to lighten the shadows and add a bit of contrast. In my camera bag
A Tamron 18-270mm, F/3.5-6.3 lens and a Nikkor 28-105mm f3.5-4.5 D IF Macro Lens. One is on my camera, while the other is in my bag.Feedback
Be patient. If you are interested in nature photography, just stand still and observe your surroundings. There is always life going on all around us. It is amazing what you can see if you just take the time to look!
