Behind The Lens

Location

Fox Road near the Chapel of the Holy Cross, Sedona, Arizona

Time

4:55 pm June 17, 2009

Lighting

Monsoon season in the Sedona area generally begins in mid July but these fake storm clouds made for great lighting in mid June. I was working at the time outdoors and mobile so I always had a camera with me.

Equipment

This was captured using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel Xti with a Canon 28mm t0 55mm lens and skylight filter. Hand held ISO 100 f9 1/250

Inspiration

I happened to be working in the right place at the right time!

Editing

Very minimal sharpness and highlight/shadow adjustment.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 50D, all my lenses are Canon: 28-135mm, 60mm macro, 17-40mm, 18-55mm. Beike tripod and various filters (ND, circular polarizing, etc.)

Feedback

In the Sedona as in Arizona in general the best light is when the sun is lower in the sky (winter, early spring, late fall) but the clarity of the sky there means be ready and watchful at all times as the scene changes minute to minute.
