Location
This photo was taken at Whitby, North Yorkshire, UKTime
It was taken at sunset and I was struggling to find a "classic" sunset composition as the pier is heading away from the sunset which was supposed to be the focal point. I changed my mind and made the pier the focal point with the sun happening in the background. I think it made an "alternative" composition as it pretty much goes against most of the rules.Lighting
This was taken with only natural light at sunset.Equipment
This was taken hand held, by a bridge camera (Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd) rather than a full DSLR, so using the built in lens. No flash or other equipment was used.Inspiration
One of the things I like about this photo is the sun is setting into the sea, despite Whitby being on the East Coast of the UK and I was looking West. Bet there aren't many places that can do that...Editing
I literally removed 1 buoy and a seagull, other than that, pretty much as it came out of the camera. In my camera bag
This is a reasonably old image and I've moved on a lot since this picture was taken when the answer would have been "just the camera". I now use a Nikon D3300 and usually carry 3 lenses, a set of ND and grad filters, a remote cord, 3 spare batteries and a couple of spare SD cards.Feedback
Take the photo for yourself, no one else. If you think it looks good, take it regardless of the "rules". Rules are meant to be broken. ;-)
