Ceiba is a genus of large trees found in tropical areas such as Mexico, South America, Caribbean, West Africa, and Southeast Asia. Species like this (Ceiba pentandra) can grow to 70 m (230 ft) tall or more with a trunk up to 3 m (10 ft.) in diameter, buttress roots that can be taller than a grown person, and it's used for different purposes. The Kapok or Ceiba pentandra is a sacred symbol in Maya mythology.
