Nice shot! I tried that, but even though they are slow, they are still too fast to focus stack. My cheap lenses have an extreme shallow DOF...

Thanks! Yeah, they do move surprisingly fast! This was not focus stacked. I saw this guy crawling across my patio, so took out my studio flash, and blasted him with light - That's what made the BG black, even though it was outside. Cool looking animals! :-)

I love the contrast between the glistening texture and semitransparent eye-stalks against the black backdrop.

Thanks! I was surprised at how photogenic this ugly little fellow was! It moved a lot faster than I thought too; made the macro shot somewhat difficult... but I was happy with the results :-)
