The photo was taken in Germany, not too far from the lake Chiemsee. We were travelling to a campsite but due to unexpected traffic issues we ended up sleeping in a car. This is in the morning when kids woke up quite early and were stretching their legs and brushing their teeth before we continued on our journey.Time
It was quite early in the morning in summer. Kids could not sleep anymore and wanted to get out of the car so found an excuse that they want to brush their teeth. :-) It was actually lovely morning, still a bit cool and cloudy but with a promise of a nice day.Lighting
All natural light. I was thinking of using flash to lighten up their faces but decided not too to capture the nature around more naturally.Equipment
Nikon D7100 and 18-140mm lens (3.5-5.6). I use this universal lens for general travells. Setting ISO 100 and f8 and 1/125secInspiration
I think the contrast of brushing teeth that you usually do in a bathroom and the hilly countryside and I just loved how much they got into brushing their teeth and how they were next to each other. I was thinking of moving them to get a better composition of the shot but I just loved their expressions so much that I decided not to spoil it. So I quickly took the shot as they were before they had a chance to realize what is going on and start to do poses and pull faces.Editing
Yes, I lightened up the children a bit in the Lightroom and cropped the image slightly. In my camera bag
On travels with children I usually have the Nikon 18-140 on the D7100 camera and in the bag I have also the fixed 35mm and small range zoom 17-50mm for more artistic shots or where the light is of an issue.Feedback
Be always ready! I had to take this shot quickly before they start messing about. There was no time for changing lenses or trying different settings. The most important thing of this one was to take it in that exact moment.
