I took this photo in my back garden. I have a temperamental rose bush that I inherited - my grandma brought it to New York from Pennsylvania when they moved here in the 1950's. The blooms were perfect and delicate that year!Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon. The light in that spot is pretty steady throughout the day, so glaring noonday sun wasn't an issue.Lighting
The lighting is fairly steady in my back garden all day, so light wasn't really an issue with this photo. All natural light was used.Equipment
This photo was taken with my old reliable Canon Rebel.Inspiration
I was in awe at how the blooms could be so simple yet so complex at the same time. I tend to look for the details in things, and spent a lot of time studying these roses and the peonies that grow in the same garden.Editing
I don't do much in the way of post-processing....I use Picasa for editing. The saturation was upped a tiny bit for this photo, but what you see is what was there for the most part.In my camera bag
I'm a hobby photographer on a limited budget. I have my trusty old Canon Rebel, a standard lens, a zoom lens, and a set of filters in my bag, along with the usual battery charger, cleaning cloth, and lens and body caps. I'm a mom, so you can usually find other random things in there too!Feedback
Stop and smell the roses! It's cliche, yes, but take time to look at the details. Walk around it, under it, over it, and each will give you a different perspective.
