Behind The Lens

Location

I clicked this picture in monsoon season around Mid-Aug in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai

Time

It was one rainy afternoon, i was out for a folio shoot of my friend and i noticed from a distance this lovely family was sitting on slippery hill. For a second i thought to ignore the moment but then within 30 sec i realized it will be one of my best picture. So i managed to get closer and sat in front of them with a fear if they would attack i would loose my camera as it was wet and slippery hill.

Lighting

It was overcast

Equipment

This was shot on Nikon D5200 With 50 mm Lens , no tripod/flush etc used.

Inspiration

It was a perfect family picture moment for me. Baby monkey was staring continuously at me while i was approaching them. Mother and baby bond was just amazing to be ignored. Though i was afraid of getting closer to them on slippery and wet hill but it was totally worth it.

Editing

Normally i do use Light-room to edit my pictures, and About this specific picture, i shot this picture in RAW format and i Just played with clarity tool and added vibrance and increased saturation a bit.Nothing Much.

In my camera bag

My first camera Nikon D5200 with 18-105mm and 50mm. & From may /2016 onwards i increased the weight of my bag with Nikon lens 80-200 f2.8, Nikon 35-7.f2.8 along with Nikon D750. & I rarely use tripod/monopods.

Feedback

Making a picture like this just need Luck, Patience along with some intelligence. Like i did in this picture, by keeping slow movements, Kind monkey family allowed my to get really close to my subject as i was using 50mm fixed prime lens no zoom and finally i managed to get the same shot i visualized from a distance.
