Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on the terrace on my home. My dog is obsessed with the neighbor's cat; she spends half of the day waiting for its appearance.

Time

This was taken on a Saturday morning, around 10 AM on a nice spring day. I was having “mate”, which is a sort of tea we Argentineans drink all the time, and my dog is my usual companion.

Lighting

Only natural light was used.

Equipment

I used a Canon EOS Rebel T3i, with an 18-55mm f/3.5 lens. Nothing else was used.

Inspiration

I sat on my old moldy terrace to have my breakfast on a Saturday morning, I was aiming to capture the images on my day to day life that I don´t usually photograph because I take them for granted, and there was my dog, so calm, looking through the rusty bars waiting to be possessed when the cat´s neighbor gloats on the cornice in front. It seemed a good start for the day.

Editing

I adjusted the contrast and saturation to enhance the rustiness and the mold.

In my camera bag

I don’t have much equipment. My Canon EOS Rebel T3i, an 18-55mm f/3.5 lens, a 70-300mm f/3.5, a tripod and an extra battery.

Feedback

Anything is worth shooting, try to see your life’s images with new eyes, whether is your pet, your husband, wife, kid, old shoes, etc. whatever is natural to you might be special to others.
