Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken one evening in Virginia after leaving the office. I stepped out into the parking lot and as I walked to my truck i noticed the the sun was setting. So I quickly grabbed my camera from the truck luckily it was still setup from shooting sunset the evening before in Maryland. This one caught my eye as the best to show.

Time

It was taken early evening as the sun was setting; its one I made from a series of shots beginning when the sun was above the dark area its in now until it had completely set.

Lighting

I was a very orange red sunset and the top clouds offered some mystery and the crossing contrails from airplanes that flew by earlier gave it the lower lines that lead you in.

Equipment

I really don't recall the settings but I believe I was shooting a Sony A77 with a kit lens at the time. It was handheld in Manual.

Inspiration

The setting Sun always inspires me, I cannot resist it. Every evening on my way home that i can get to see the setting sun I will take a photo of it whether its with my camera or cell phone or my mind if I don't have my camera.

Editing

There was no post processing done to this image. I'm from the film era, that being said I've wasted countless frames until i figured out how to setup for different situations. So when I took my first DSLR photo and it was horrible I remembered my film lessons and so I try to have my settings pretty close to what my eye see's so that in many cases I don't need to post process my images.

In my camera bag

So in my bag I have mostly Nikon gear no. Nikon D-500 along with Nikon 200 - 500mm lens is my go to for most nature Moonrise and sporting events and my D-750 with a 24 - 120mm lens for everything else.

Feedback

I don't know, maybe simply shoot what the emotion of your eyes and mind sees.
