This image was taken of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco, CA. I was looking up at one of the bridge towers.Time
This image was taken during a summer day in July around 2:00pm.Lighting
If you have ever been lucky enough to experience San Fransisco, one thing this city if famous for is the fog and overcast sky. True to form, I had a beautiful cloudy sky giving soft light.Equipment
I took this photograph with a Nikon D700, 18mm sigma lens.Inspiration
While touring in San Fransico, my family and I decided to rent bicycles and ride over the Golden Gate Bridge. With my 2 year old in tow, the chaos and crowds were all but overwhelming. I stopped to let others pass me, as I did, it occurred to me that my little one was experiencing a completely different view than the rest of our crew. Despite the crowds, I decided to get off the bike and crouch next to him, getting his perspective. What an incredible moment. While still at his eye level, I looked up and took the shot. The crowds no longer bothered me as I finished the ride looking up, not out.Editing
I did re-touch this image in Lightroom, pushing the highlights and vibrance slightly. I also increased the clarity overall. In my camera bag
I typically carry with me my Nikon D7000 and my Nikon 960 speed light. My lenses include 18-70mm, 50mm, 85mm and my monster 70-200mm. When I am shooting portraits for clients I also include my circle reflector as well as a small and large umbrella for off camera flash.Feedback
There is something to be said about planning your shot, stopping and thinking about all your settings, etc. However; don't ignore your feelings about the moment or subject you are photographing. I feel like sometimes, over thinking your shot shows in the resulting image. Go with your gut.
