Location
I was driving down a random neighborhood near my house, trying to get cool fog shots. Just when I was feeling like I got no good shots that day, I saw this deer come out of the woods and start eating grass. I tried my hardest to make no noise as I drove slowly up to the deer and rolled my window down to take the photo. I whistled to get the deer to look up, took the photo and then the deer ran off into the woods.Time
This was taken around 6 at night although you wouldn't know it looking at the image. I had just the perfect amount of light before the sun set.Lighting
I always think natural lighting it so cool. I like getting the erie background in my photos.Equipment
I used my Nikon D40 with a 18-105mm lens, my car window ended up being my tripod and my vocal chords to make the best deer call I can make!Inspiration
I went out looking for good fog photos and I happen to be in the right place, at the right time to catch the deer by itself.Editing
I used Lightroom to make all the colors richer and highlight the deer to make his body and antlers stick out better. In my camera bag
Here what's in my camera bag at all times: My Nikon D3200 body, Nikkor 50mm 1.8 prime, Lensbaby Composer Pro, Nikkor 18-105mm 3.5, Sigma 8-16mm 4.5 and my Nikon flash. I guess you could say I like the special purpose lens more because you can get very creative with them! My favorite lens is my Sigma 8-16mm. What a cool lens this is! It's great for landscape shots all the way to capturing a wedding ceremony with all the wedding party at the alter and all the people sitting in the audience.. literally every person in the room.Feedback
Great animal photos are so hard to capture. It's more about being in the right place at the right time. Make sure you are being quite and careful so you don't scare the animal away or put yourself in a dangerous position. And most importantly, photography is a great so HAVE FUN WITH IT!
