Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Seabrook, Washington, a new beach town in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where I love to get away from life and take a break.

Time

This photo was shot right around sunset. I had just gotten home from work and decided to take my dog for her first trip to the beach!

Lighting

This image was one of those click-it-before-you-miss-it shots. I was only carrying my iPhone, and the clouds, dog, and I were all in the right place at the right time.

Equipment

I got this photo from my good ol' iPhone 4. I'm still new to photography, I have a DSLR now, but most of my images have been from my phone out in every day life.

Inspiration

This was my dog's first trip to the beach. She had finally calmed down and was just walking and stopped to look at her reflection in the water. The fog around made her stand out even more, it was just pure perfection in my eyes.

Editing

If I remember correctly, I think I made it black and white, and adjusted the contrast. It wasn't much, all I had was the editing available on my phone.

In my camera bag

I'm still in the very early stages of photography, so my bag is an old old camera bag that belonged to my dad. The only thing in it is my camera!

Feedback

I take a camera of some sort with me everywhere I go, and I keep my eyes open for the natural beauty that's around. I don't create images, I capture life as it's being lived. In this photograph, the fog, beach, calm water and my dog all just happened on their own, and I'm so glad they did. I cherish this photograph, as it's one of the last pictures I have of that sweet girl. You never want to miss out on a memory, keep your camera by your side at all times.
