Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a shopping centre where they have wildlife people set up with all sorts of animals to show and explain about to all the kids on school holidays. This little guy was in one of the fish tanks and I could just see his eye above the water and thought wow what a great photo.

Time

It was in the morning around 10am just before the show

Lighting

Lighting was just shopping centre lighting nothing special

Equipment

This was taken with my first camera which was a 4/3rds camera Olympus E-PL5, no tripod was used it was hand held no flash and ISO 1000 1/80th second and f5.6

Inspiration

Just the way it only had the top of it's head out of the water, it really grabbed my attention so I had to get the shot.

Editing

Yes I processed it in lightroom to add some more sharpness to it and added the vignette to highlight the eye more

In my camera bag

Now a days I carry a Canon 5dmkiii everywhere I go and my choice lens that never comes off my camera is my 24-70mm but in saying that if I was going to photograph animals at a place like that I would also probably have my 70-200mm lens in my bag as well.

Feedback

As you can see I had to have my ISO up high but sometimes when you are not allowed to have a tripod this is what you need to do. Because I was shooting through glass I also had to worry about glare which I was lucky there was none and I got up as close to the glass as I could to help prevent it.
