It's called luck and a decent zoom! lol I was 6th row and to the side...also, I'm 5' 2" so I have to work around all the tall people of the world!! ;P I used a Nikon Coolpix P100...it is 10.3 MP and has a 26x zoom.

Superb composition, detail and lighting. Love ZZ Top and concert photography. I'm short like you so it is sometimes difficult to get good shots at concerts!

My favorite band. I have met them twice. Seen 8 of their concerts. Can never get enough of the Bad Boys from Texas.
