Behind The Lens

Location

The top of Iguazu Falls at "Devil's Throat", on the Argentinian side overlooking the Brazilian side.

Time

It was mid-morning but, thankfully, quite overcast although it was very, very humid!

Lighting

Luckily it was diffuse. The biggest challenge was finding a sturdy place to set up the tripod, as the majority of the accessible walkways are cantilevered metal paths which, therefore, vibrate when people walk across them. Luckily I found a very small piece of concrete, about 1 metre by 1 metre, to set up the tripod.

Equipment

Canon 1Dx body and a Zeiss 21mm prime with a Lee 10x stopper filter and a Lee graduated filter just to darken the sky a little. To be honest, the original is a bit poor at the spray was immense so managing this in the B+W conversion was quite a challenge.

Inspiration

It's Iguazu Falls!

Editing

B+W conversion in Silver Efex, manually adjusting the control points for the desired look.

In my camera bag

Several lenses, a couple of Canon bodies, Lee filters, and cloths to clean everything with!

Feedback

If you can, try to give yourselves a couple of days. I only had half a day and felt very rushed. I was lucky for it to be overcast, but ideally I'd have arrived much earlier and stayed much later. But we had a flight to catch!
